Inbox organized a knowledge session at the Inbox Head Office in collaboration with Microsoft Pakistan over Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. Majid Ali Nagori, a very well known speaker from KalSoft Academy, presented the key features and business benefits of having Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 in order for customers to gain business continuity.

The purpose of having such sessions is to guide and assist the customers in making decisions pertaining to acquisition of IT products and solutions. This helps in giving them the best possible services with a blend of industry’s best practices as per their specific requirements.

Inbox has always contributed in educating its customers about the latest and upcoming technologies which can benefit them in both short and long run.

Inbox to setup 1,111 IT Labs for Government of Punjab

punjab-it.jpgInbox Business Technologies signed an agreement with Government of Punjab for setting up computer labs in 1,111 higher secondary schools in Punjab. Under this program a total of around 4,200 labs will be set up by Government of Punjab in schools and will by far be one of the biggest IT initiatives taken by Government in education sector.

This turnkey solution signed between Inbox and the Government of Punjab covers supply, installation and after sales services for all 1,111 IT Labs. Inbox, being an Executive Partner of Acer will be providing and installing Acer Altos G330 Servers and Acer Veriton M670 Desktops. In addition to servers and desktops, thin client computing is being used to maximize the number of terminals in labs. In this regard, nComputing Technology which offers features specific to education sector is being used. This innovative combination of thin and thick client computing will save millions of rupees and yet make available computers to students studying in Government schools.

The software being used by Inbox in these labs will comprise Microsoft products such as Windows Server 2008, Forefront Security, Windows Terminal Services Client Access License (CAL), and Office 2007 Professional.

The Punjab IT Labs project was initiated by Government of Punjab last year and is expected to be completed by end of 2009 covering 4,200 higher secondary schools across Punjab. The Government believes that this project will be the most significant step toward bridging the information and technology divide between public and private sector education.

Speaking on this occasion, Faraz Siddiqui, Group Head for Infrastructure business said “These school labs will go a long way in integrating technology with conventional mode of teaching, and Inbox is ready to play its role. A project of this magnitude is always challenging but with Punjab Government’s progressive outlook, a supportive network of Punjab Education & IT department staff, and competent & effective Inbox project team – I am confident of completing this project with flying colors.”

Askari Bank signed core-banking and non-core banking application deployment contract with Inbox

askari.jpgAskari Bank, one of the leading banks of Pakistan, signs an agreement with Inbox for acquiring IBM products from Inbox.

As per the agreement, Inbox will be providing hardware infrastructure products  and application monitoring software to Askari Bank which is the key step for the bank to setup their new IT systems.

The proposed solution is based on IBM Power Systems’ Power 595 and Power 570 servers along with IBM DS8300 Storage System. The project is divided into 3 phases; in the first phase, Inbox will be setting up IBM Power 570’s and DS8300 Storage box at Askari Bank’s Head Office for their Development, Testing, and Staging of Core & Non Core banking application, and Production of Non-Core Banking applications.  In the second phase, Inbox will deploy IBM Production Servers Power p 595 and x3550 Servers for supporting their Production for Core-Banking Applications.

In the final phase, Inbox will setup IBM Power 570 servers, DS 8300 storage systems, Hardware Management Console, and Backup Tape  Library for Disaster Recovery. Inbox would also provide IBM x3550 M2 servers to act as Reporting and Interface Servers.

The complete solution also covers implementation services for IBM Tivoli products which include Composite Application Manager, Monitoring Processor, Storage Manager, and Service Request Manager.

As part of their new strategy, the multi-million dollar signoff will help Askari Bank in moving to a completely new and automated environment, speed up their internal operations and centralize their banking systems.

State Life acquires Microsoft Software Licenses from Inbox

statelife.jpgState Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan-one of the leading insurance companies of the country opened the tender of Microsoft Software Licenses in favor of Inbox Business Technologies. State Life is acquiring a number of Microsoft Software Licenses which include Windows Server 2003 Standard, Windows Vista Business, Office 2007 Small Business, and Office Professional. In addition, Inbox will provide Microsoft Office 2007 Small Business Edition Licenses as a value added service.

This tender was an extension to the “Partnering for Technology Access” tender held last year which was also opened in Inbox’s favor in which it had to deploy Inbox desktops bundled with 20 Symantec Anti-Virus licenses and other peripherals at 20 zonal offices of State Life.

PTCL continuous acquisition of Technology Infrastructure products and services from Inbox
